New hat and websites

I’ve been working on migrating the AACC website to a new host for a week or more.  I think I have it ready to go, but the files may not show up for 72 hours more or less. I hope, less. In my “uploading/downloading time” while I was stuck idle at the keyboard, I left the laptop and worked on some sewing.

I find myself conflicted. I love subtle colors, but I have, in my later years, come to love brights.

I put the subtle turquoise on one side…

and bright colors on the other. They are reversible, so you can choose which one you like.

I also made some new card cases. I love these little things! I used sew-on snaps on these. I’ve begun to wonder how well the Velcro will hold up to repeated opening and closing, although it is a lot easier to sew on than the snaps.

All lined up.

The backs. See the little raccoon in the upper left?

Open for business.

My best thing, though, is the new hat I made. Eiko wove the fabric in linen and

many coordinating colors. I hated to cut into it, but when I did and stitched it up according to what a lady described at Locally Grown Gallery, it turned out spectacular I think.

Web Store is up for AACC

The eShop I’ve been working on for a week is up and (as far as I can tell) working! It’s great to have it all done, and I think I did all right for my first effort at setting up the shopping cart. (Knock on wood) You can find it here.

You can tell the birds are nesting by the disarray of my basketry ball full of scrap llama fur. One little titmouse has been pulling it out by the beakful almost continuously.

Our bluebird house has a family nesting in it. I like to think that they enjoy the peonies and clematis growing underneath.

Tomorrow is grandbaby-sitting again. My ribs are acting up again from when I fell and cracked them. I think I messed them up again while cleaning out my pond filter, but the fish and frogs and dragonflies are well worth it. Just wish I could breathe. Hope I can dance tomorrow.

One happy dendrobium

It’s been raining here like crazy and I set my dendrobium
aggregatum out on the deck rail. It’s in heaven! It’s sneaking out some tiny little spikes. I hope they’re flower spikes! My phalaenopsis, which I almost killed last year, is doing much better in its little candy jar greenhouse. It has grown a lot and has healthy new roots.

My miniature phal is blooming like mad on two flower stalks. It likes its sun tea jar and west window.

New Items

I have had these for a little while and they are going in my Etsy Shop now. All of them are made from thrifted men’s shirts. The first one is some cute little bitty baby britches made from shirt sleeves with a shiny silver metallic elastic waist in about a size 2.

Yes, the cuffs unbutton and roll up in case baby wants to wade in a puddle. (Hopefully, not one of baby’s own making.) Rainy Day Waders.

The second one is a peasant-style dress of purple gingham and lace with an embroidered Texas state silhouette on the left side. There is elastic in the neck and sleeves for comfort.

I’m not sure what this shirt was from when it was an adult size, but I think it’s much cuter for a little tomboy–or cowgirl.

And this one, my favorite, is made from a man’s polo shirt in a great medium weight knit. I’m not sure what to call the color. Greenish, blueish, grayish? It’s sort of like hazel eyes, it looks different in different situations. I added lace and a little cotton patch pocket in a coordinating color pattern.Â
