Hi. I’m Denise. I’ve been a sewist for over 40 years, jeweler for over 20 years, dabbler in many things like WordPress, Silhouette Cameo, wool (needle-felting, drop spinning, and gnome-making), cooking (gluten-free for over 25 years), orchids, genealogy, arts of all kinds and playing with my grandkids in East Tennessee. Lately, I’ve fallen in love with making purses and hats. I write about pets, people, or anything else that interests me. I hope you’ll be interested too.
Pattern design is also a favorite of mine, whether it be beadwork patterns, new purse patterns or girly outfits for my granddaughter or other littles. Men’s shirts have the best fabric, so they’re great for refashioning. Suits also make great purses. Resale shops are a goldmine!
My latest creative endeavors are made with paper. You know–cards, little buildings, journals, etc. The little houses will go into a tiny village that will represent Three Pines from Louise Penny’s mystery series whose main character is Inspector Armand Gamache. I absolutely love this series–nineteen in all. I talked about them so much to my daughter, who also loves mysteries, that my granddaughter overheard and began listening to them as audio books. She was 12. Soon all her friends had read them and the middle school librarian had read them and ordered them for the school library.
Follow along with my winding journey in art forms. We may bang on metal, bead awhile, or stitch a seam or two. I always have fun while creating. You can too.
